Police Reject ₦1.5m Bribe To Free Kidnap Suspect

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old man, Yahaya Saleh, for attempting to bribe investigators with ₦1.5 million in a bid to secure the release of a kidnap suspect under investigation.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the arrest was made during a covert operation by the Command’s Scorpion Squad, which is currently handling an investigation into a kidnapping syndicate operating in Abuja and surrounding areas.

Saleh allegedly approached the investigators and offered the money as an inducement to compromise the case and facilitate the suspect’s unlawful release. However, the officers declined the bribe and proceeded to arrest Saleh immediately.

Commending the team for their integrity and professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and interference with justice.
