Fulani Youths Clash in Katampe Over Relationship Dispute During Eid-El-Fitr, Leaving Several Injured

A violent attack broke out in Katampe axis of Abuja during the current ongoing Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, which led to several Fulanis sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

It was gathered that the clash that happened on the second day of the Eid-El-Fire period, occurred as a result of a dispute over relationships, involving multiple individuals armed with dangerous weapons.

A counter-insurgency analyst based in Lake Chad, Makama Zagazola, stated that altercation led to the hospitalization of two individuals, identified as Isiaka Abubakar and Isiaka Mohammed, both males from Ruga Katampe.

According to him : “The situation escalated quickly, and the violence saw the youths using dangerous weapons, leaving the two victims with serious injuries,”.

Sources disclosed that the fight took place around 19:30 and rapidly disrupted the festive atmosphere in the area. “It was a terrifying scene.

The youths were fighting violently, and it was hard to make sense of the situation until the police arrived,” said one local resident who witnessed the incident.

It was learnt that Police patrol teams were swiftly deployed to the scene upon receiving a distress call and quickly brought the situation under control, but the youths involved fled into the nearby bush.

The affected duo were rushed to Jareal Hospital in Mpape for medical treatment following the violent altercation. “We are doing our best to stabilize them, but their injuries are quite severe,” a hospital source confirmed.

It was gathered that such violent confrontation is not the first of its kind in Katampe. Locals noted that such altercations have become a recurring issue during major celebrations, particularly on the second day of Eid-El-Fitr, among Fulani youths.

In response to the growing concern, the Sarkin Fulani and Ardo of the community have been invited to a critical meeting with Fulani stakeholders, scheduled for April 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Authorities are continuing their investigations, with efforts underway to apprehend all individuals involved in the fight.

“We are committed to ensuring that the perpetrators of this violent act are brought to justice,” said a police spokesperson. “ Our primary goal is to restore peace to the community and prevent further violence during such celebrations.”
