Police Prohibit Sallah Durbar in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has announced a ban on Sallah Durbar activities to maintain peace and ensure a smowoth Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.
During a press conference in Kano on Friday, the Kano State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ibrahim Bakori made this declaration
He explained that the prohibition of all durbar events was necessary due to credible security intelligence indicating that certain individuals had been mobilized to incite disorder and unrest.
“In light of this information, we have decided to ban all durbar activities during the celebrations,” he stated.
The Commissioner further indicated that the police would not permit the carrying of items that could potentially escalate tensions.
“We have deployed a sufficient number of armed personnel, in coordination with other security agencies, to ensure robust security across our areas of responsibility,” he added.

Bakori urged the community to prioritize peace during the celebrations: “As we mark this occasion, let us remember that harmony is crucial.
We must set aside our differences and collaborate as responsible citizens for the betterment of our state and nation.”
He confirmed that operational directives had been issued to area commanders and divisional police officers, outlining the security measures to be implemented during the festivities within their jurisdictions.
Specific instructions for ensuring safety at prayer grounds, recreational centers, and public buildings were also provided to the deployed officers.
The Commissioner stressed the importance of maintaining peace and urged parents to guide their children against engaging in any disruptive behavior.
