Parent, Four Others Arrested for Assaulting Ondo Vice Principal

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five individuals, including a parent, in connection with the assault of Mr. Alexander Rotifa, Vice Principal of Complete Child Development College, Aule, Akure.
Among those arrested is Mrs. Dorcas Asije, the mother of a student allegedly caught cheating with an Android phone during the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to reports, Rotifa had confiscated the phone after catching the SS3 student using it to cheat, sparking a chain of events that led to the attack.
Sources revealed that after the incident, the student reported the matter to his parents, who allegedly mobilized a group of thugs to confront and assault the Vice Principal. “When the thugs arrived, the school quickly contacted the police.
However, the attackers overpowered the officers, dragged the VP from their vehicle, and beat him severely,” a witness said.
The Ondo State Police command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Alayande, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Monday.
He stated that the operation was carried out on the orders of Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi.
A tactical team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) apprehended the suspects, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
“The suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded,” Alayande said, adding that the state Ministry of Education has also launched a probe into the incident.
