Gov. Zulum Shuts Down Petrol Sales in Bama to Disrupt Insurgent Operations

In a decisive move aimed at bolstering security efforts in Borno State, Governor Babagana Zulum has ordered an immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and Banki.

The directive, issued after consultations with security agencies, is part of ongoing measures to tackle the security challenges in the region, particularly the activities of insurgents.

Malam Dauda Iliya, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, disclosed the development in a statement released on Saturday in Maiduguri.

“I have directed the immediate ban on the sale of petrol in Bama town, Banki and other parts of Bama Local Government Area with immediate effect,” Zulum said.

The governor issued a stern warning to residents and fuel dealers, emphasizing that violators of the order will face strict consequences.

“Let me make it clear, there will be no sacred cows in the enforcement of this ban.

Security agencies have been given strict orders to clamp down on any filling station or individual contravening this directive. Anyone found culpable will be dealt with accordingly,” he said.

Governor Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to achieving lasting peace in Borno State and urged citizens to support the ongoing anti-insurgency efforts.

This ban is the latest in a series of proactive steps by the government to disrupt supply routes and limit insurgents’ mobility in conflict-affected communities.
