Nigerian Army Debunks Rumored Attack on Bishop Kukah’s Residence

The Nigerian Army has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that the residence of Bishop Matthew Kukah, the Bishop of the Sokoto Diocese, was attacked.

In a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 8 Division, Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Olaniyi Osoba, the Army described the claim as false and misleading. He clarified that no such incident occurred anywhere in Sokoto State.

The Army further assured the public that Bishop Kukah and the Sokoto Catholic Cathedral remain safe and secure. According to the statement, the cleric is actively carrying out his Easter obligations without any disturbance.

It also emphasized that the Division, in coordination with other security agencies, remains fully committed to protecting lives and property across Sokoto State and its wider area of responsibility. The Army added that adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure a calm and peaceful Easter celebration.
