Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded another significant success in the ongoing fight against terrorism, taking two senior Boko Haram commanders into custody after they voluntarily surrendered in Geidam, Yobe State.
The Nigerian military identified the surrendered insurgents as “Munzirs,” a title associated with senior figures within the terrorist group’s leadership hierarchy. They have since been moved to Maiduguri, where they are undergoing detailed profiling, interrogation, and debriefing by security and intelligence personnel.
According to military authorities, valuable intelligence obtained from the two commanders is expected to enhance ongoing operations aimed at locating, disrupting, and dismantling the remaining Boko Haram strongholds across Nigeria’s North-East region.
The military stated that the latest surrender is a testament to the effectiveness of sustained counter-terrorism operations carried out by Operation HADIN KAI. It noted that relentless offensives, intelligence-led missions, and coordinated security efforts have continued to degrade the terrorist group’s leadership, operational capacity, and ability to recruit and sustain attacks.
Security officials expressed optimism that information provided by the surrendered commanders would contribute significantly to future military operations, helping troops target remaining insurgent enclaves and further restore peace and stability in the region.
The development marks another milestone in Nigeria’s long-running campaign against Boko Haram and other terrorist groups, as security forces intensify efforts to bring lasting security to the North-East.
