The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, personally led a security operation into the forests surrounding Byazhin, Abuja, resulting in the rescue of five kidnapped victims and the elimination of two suspected kidnappers.

According to a statement issued by the FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the operation was launched in response to recent kidnapping incidents reported in the Paze community of the Byazhin area.

The mission involved operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT), and the Kubwa Area Command. The security personnel worked alongside local hunters and vigilante groups to carry out an extensive search-and-rescue exercise across Paze and neighboring communities.

During the operation, security forces encountered suspected kidnappers in a gun battle. Two of the suspects were neutralized, while two others, identified as Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman, were arrested. Several members of the gang reportedly escaped into nearby hills after sustaining gunshot wounds.

The operation also led to the successful rescue of five kidnapped victims and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles along with loaded magazines.

The Police Command has appealed to hospitals, healthcare workers, and members of the public to report anyone seeking treatment for gunshot injuries under suspicious circumstances, as efforts continue to track down the fleeing suspects.

Authorities stated that clearance and search operations remain ongoing in Byazhin and surrounding areas as security agencies intensify efforts to dismantle the criminal network and restore safety across the affected communities.
