Nigeria Suspends Operations of Visa Application Centres in United States

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the suspension of the operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application Centres in the United States, directing all applicants seeking Nigerian visas to submit their applications directly through Nigeria’s diplomatic missions in the country.

In a public notice signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the NIS said the suspension of the service provider, Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), took effect from July 1, 2026, and will remain in force until further notice.

According to the notice, the decision affects prospective travellers and Nigerians residing in the United States who require visas to enter Nigeria.

“With effect from 1st July, 2026, the service of Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), the operator of Nigeria’s Visa Application Centers in the United States of America has been suspended until further notice,” the statement read.

The Immigration Service directed all affected applicants to submit their visa applications directly at the Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General of Nigeria in New York and Atlanta.

The Service, however, clarified that the new directive applies only to visa application submissions at Nigerian diplomatic missions in the United States and does not affect Nigeria’s electronic visa (e-Visa) platform.

Applicants wishing to use the e-Visa system were advised to continue submitting their applications through the official portal at www.evisa.immigration.gov.ng.

The NIS also assured applicants that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the seamless submission, processing and issuance of visas despite the suspension of the visa application centre operator.

The public notice was issued from the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters, Abuja, and signed by DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, Service Public Relations Officer, on July 9, 2026.
