Muhammed Babangida Debunks Claims of Rejecting Tinubu’s Appointment as BOA Chairman
Muhammed Babangida, son of former military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has officially debunked circulating rumours suggesting he turned down his appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA).
Babangida expressed his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting him with the strategic role, noting that the claims of his rejection were false and malicious.
In a statement issued on Monday, Babangida categorically dismissed the reports, describing them as an attempt to mislead Nigerians and cast aspersions on the current administration.
“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government, and extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement read in part.
The statement also issued a warning that those responsible for spreading the misinformation would be held accountable.

“We also want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within our nation,” it added.
Concluding the statement, Babangida’s camp urged the public to verify news through credible sources before accepting or sharing information.
His appointment is one of several recent strategic decisions taken by President Tinubu to reposition key institutions in the country for better governance and economic growth.
