Exclusive: Kogi Governor’s SSA, Hassan Agada Arrested in Lokoja Over Alleged ₦8 Million Fraud

Kindly share this story

A Senior Special Assistant to the Kogi State Governor, identified as Hassan Agada, has reportedly been arrested in Lokoja over allegations relating to a financial transaction involving more than ₦8 million.

Agada was reportedly arrested on Tuesday , August 11, by the Quick Response Unit following a petition allegedly submitted by Milk and Honey Luxury Homes.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the petition concerns a transaction in which more than ₦8 million was allegedly obtained from the company under circumstances that it has now challenged.

The development has raised questions not only about the disputed funds but also about representations allegedly made during the transaction. Particular attention is reportedly being directed at whether Agada’s position as a government aide or his public profile was used to establish credibility or influence in dealings with the company.

There are also allegations that Agada presented himself as a lawyer. The claim has yet to be independently established, and its relevance to the investigation will depend on the evidence available to investigators. If it is established that professional credentials were deliberately misrepresented to induce a transaction, the allegation could have further legal implications.

However, the circumstances surrounding the case remain subject to investigation. An arrest or petition does not constitute proof of criminal wrongdoing, and Agada remains presumed innocent unless allegations against him are established through due process.

Investigators are expected to determine the nature of the transaction, the circumstances surrounding the alleged payment, what representations were made by the parties involved, and whether there was any deliberate intention to defraud.

The case therefore extends beyond the alleged ₦8 million financial dispute and raises broader questions about accountability and the responsibilities associated with public office. Where public officials or government appointees become involved in private commercial transactions, allegations of misuse of influence can attract significant public scrutiny.

As investigations continue, further details may clarify whether the matter arose from a contractual or financial dispute or whether authorities will establish evidence of deliberate fraudulent conduct.

For now, the allegations against Hassan Agada remain unproven, and the outcome of the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings will determine the facts of the case.
