FRSC confirms abduction of Officer by armed assailants

The Benue Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the abduction of Inspector Nathaniel Kumashe by armed assailants.

The command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Ngozi Ahula, reported the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria during an update in Makurdi on Thursday.

The Benue Command of FRSC spokesperson stated that Inspector Kumashe, who is currently stationed in Wannue, Tarka Local Government Area (LGA), was taken around 10 PM on Wednesday. He was abducted at his home in Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor, shortly after returning from a wake for a deceased cousin.

Ahula said the assailants discharged gunfire to intimidate family members and neighbors before abducting the officer.

According to a local source, the community youths immediately commenced a search throughout the night; however, the kidnappers had already fled the scene.

Additionally, operatives from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the vicinity joined the search efforts.

It has been suggested that the victim may have been relocated to a kidnapper’s hideout in the neighboring Guma LGA.
