
Police launch probe as explosion kills four children in Borno
The Borno State Police Command has confirmed that four children died in an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device, IED, in Banki town, Bama Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Keneth Daso, said the blast occurred around 12:40 p.m. on Friday behind Banki Motor Park in Wajari Ward.

According to the police report, 12-year-old Mustapha Tijja was injured while playing with four other children in a makeshift structure behind the motor park when the device accidentally detonated. Mustapha was taken to the FHI 360 Clinic and is receiving treatment.
The children who died in the incident were identified as Awana Mustapha, 15; Malum Modu, 14; and Lawan Ibrahim and Modu Abacha, both aged 12.
Daso said normalcy has been restored and an investigation is underway to determine the origin of the device. The Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, urged residents to avoid touching unknown objects and to report suspicious items to security agencies.
