Insecurity: Osun Amotekun Commander Survives Assassination Attempt in Osogbo as Gunmen Riddle Vehicle with Bullets

The Commander of the Osun Amotekun Corps, Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, on Monday night narrowly escaped death after a group of unidentified gunmen ambushed and opened fire on his vehicle in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
According to a statement by the Corps’ spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu Abass, the attack occurred at about 10:05 p.m. along Ikirun Road, near the Kobo area beside Charity Hotel, while the Commander was driving home from the Corps Headquarters.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, who were heavily armed and masked, sprayed bullets at Omoyele’s vehicle in what appeared to be a coordinated assassination attempt. Despite sustaining gunshot wounds, the Commander miraculously escaped the deadly assault and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
Abass confirmed that Omoyele is currently receiving medical care at an undisclosed facility and is in stable condition under close observation.
He further disclosed that the matter has been formally reported to the Ota-Efun Police Division, and that a joint investigation by security agencies is underway to track down the attackers and uncover the motive behind the assault.
