Nigeria Condoles with Turkey Over Deadly Hotel Fire That Claimed 76 Lives
The Nigerian government has expressed its condolences to Turkey following a tragic fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Resort, which claimed 76 lives.
In a statement released on Wednesday by Kimiebi Ebienfa, the acting spokesperson of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Government conveyed its sympathies to the Turkish government and the affected families.
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria wishes to express deep condolence to the Government and People of the Republic of Turkiye over the unfortunate fire incident at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Resort,” the statement read.
The fire, which broke out early on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Bolu Province, Northwestern Turkey, also left over 50 people injured.

“The Federal Government of Nigeria sympathises with the Government of the Republic of Turkiye and the families of the victims of the fire incident, and also wishes a speedy recovery of the injured,” the statement concluded.
The tragic incident has drawn international attention and support for Turkey in its time of grief.
