Gunmen Abduct Nasarawa Permanent Secretary from Home

Suspected gunmen have abducted Barrister Yusuf Musa, the Permanent Secretary of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Information, Tourism, and Culture, from his residence in the Shinge area of Lafia, the state capital.
The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the abduction on Tuesday, describing the incident as a suspected case of kidnapping. Authorities have since launched a statewide manhunt to locate and rescue the victim.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, the incident was first discovered by a patrol team from B Division, Lafia.
“At about 3:05 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, officers on patrol found a Peugeot pick-up van with its doors left wide open in a suspicious manner. Further inspection revealed that the gate to the victim’s residence was also ajar,” the statement read.
A search of the premises confirmed that the Permanent Secretary was missing, along with his GMC vehicle bearing registration number KUJ 88 PA.
In response, the state Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, activated a tactical operation covering key areas including Akwanga, Andaha, Garaku, and Kadarko. Surveillance has also been intensified along major routes in a bid to intercept the kidnappers.
The Commissioner has ordered an aggressive, statewide manhunt and reiterated the Command’s firm commitment to rescuing the victim safely and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
