Two men accused of stealing peppers from a farm were allegedly subjected to an unusual form of punishment after being caught. Instead of being handed over to the authorities, they were reportedly forced to sit on the ground and consume the raw hot peppers they were accused of taking, while drinking dry gin.
A video of the incident shows one of the men, dressed in a reflective safety vest, grimacing in pain and sweating heavily as he struggles to swallow the peppers. The second man, wearing a blue shirt, also appears to be in visible distress as he endures the ordeal.
The incident has sparked reactions online, with many social media users joking about the severe effects the men could experience later, particularly because of the combination of extremely spicy peppers and alcohol.
The episode has also reignited debate over the use of jungle justice. While some people argue that such acts discourage theft, others point out that taking the law into one’s own hands is illegal and can easily lead to abuse or the punishment of innocent people. Suspects should be handed over to law enforcement and allowed to face due process under the law.
