Nigerian Air Force Student of Institute of Technology Kaduna Lament Non-Payment of Feeding Allowance for 12 Months

Students at the Nigerian Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in Kaduna have expressed their frustration over the non-payment of their feeding allowances for an entire year. The affected students claim that the delay, which has now spanned 12 months, has made daily survival increasingly difficult, affecting their well-being and academic performance.
The feeding allowance, a regular provision intended to support students in covering meal expenses, has not been disbursed despite repeated appeals and inquiries. Many students, particularly those from low-income families, have reported struggling to secure meals, relying on the goodwill of friends and relatives. Some students revealed that they have been forced to skip meals or resort to alternative, less nutritious food sources due to a lack of funds.
A student who wished to remain anonymous stated, “We were promised these allowances to help us with our daily needs, but for 12 months, nothing has been given. We are finding it hard to focus on our studies because of hunger and uncertainty.”
The situation has raised concerns about the impact on academic performance and overall morale. Some students are worried that this prolonged delay may lead to mental and physical health issues if the allowances are not paid soon.
Efforts to reach the institute’s management for an official response have yielded no clear explanation for the delay. However, some officials have cited administrative bottlenecks and funding challenges as contributing factors. Despite these assurances, students are calling on the Nigerian Air Force and relevant authorities to urgently address the issue to alleviate their hardship.
The non-payment of feeding allowances highlights broader concerns about funding consistency and student welfare within military-affiliated educational institutions. Many hope that the authorities will take swift action to resolve this matter, ensuring students receive the necessary support to thrive in their studies.
