10 Year Old Baby Survival of Yelewata Massacre Goes Home
Ten(10)month-old Aondosoo Targule Aya, the only surviving member of his family after the brutal Yelewata massacre in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, has been discharged from the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi.
The infant, who sustained a machete wound to his left buttock during the attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen, was among the hundreds affected in the tragic incident that claimed over 200 lives mostly women, children, and the elderly.
After months of intensive treatment, Aondosoo was officially discharged. His father, Aya Targule, expressed heartfelt gratitude to BSUTH staff and the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for their relentless care and support.
Targule, who lost his wife and three other children in the attack, praised the doctors and nurses for their unwavering commitment to saving his son’s life. He offered prayers for God’s blessings on the medical team and support staff who stood by his family during their darkest hour.
With their home destroyed, Aondosoo will now live with his aunt in the North Bank area of Makurdi, while his father returns to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp at the International Market, George Akume Way.
