Fake Army Major Arrested in Lagos Market

The 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Ikeja, has handed over a 36-year-old man, Animashaun Khalid, to the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly impersonating a military officer.
Khalid was arrested at the Arena Market, Oshodi, after soldiers found him in possession of a forged army identity card carrying his name and the rank of major.
In a statement on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the matter had been transferred to the Special Squad I for further investigation.
The probe, he explained, would focus on uncovering the source of the fake ID, identifying possible accomplices, and determining whether the suspect used the forged rank to perpetrate other crimes.
“Upon conclusion of the investigation, the case will be charged to court accordingly,” Hundeyin added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, praised the army for the swift arrest and handover, stressing that collaboration among security agencies was crucial in combating crime.
