Insecurity: Troops kill scores of terrorists in Zamfara, Injure some, others

Scores of terrorists have been killed by troops attached to operation Fansan Yamma in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State and injured several terrorists while others were reported to have escaped with varying degrees of bullet wounds.
The Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination, Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, made this disclosure in a statement made available to journalists in Gusau on Monday.
Abdullahi stated that the troops successfully conducted a fighting patrol in response to a distress call from residents and vigilantes of Yar Galadima village in the area.
Abdullahi, mentioned that the development occurred in the early hours of Sunday when the troops were alerted that terrorists were attacking the village.
He said, “The troops responded promptly to provide assistance and restore peace to the affected area. During the patrol, the troops encountered terrorists who laid ambush at two different locations on the approach to the village.
“The ambush sites were cleared by the troops and some of the terrorists were neutralised while others fled.”Abdullahi further said the air component of Operation Fansan Yamma promptly dispatched aircraft to provide close air support to the troops.
He said, “As the troops continued their advance to the village, the fleeing terrorists were equally engaged by the aircraft, leading to scores of terrorists neutralised.” Abubakar stressed that the troops remained dedicated to eliminating terrorist threats in the North-West.
