Plateau Female Pilgrim Dies in Makkah During Hajj

Jamila Muhammad, a female pilgrim from Plateau State, has died while performing the 2025 Hajj in Makkah.

Her passing was confirmed in a statement issued Monday night by the Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Daiyabu Dauda.

According to the statement, Jamila passed away at King Abdul’aziz Hospital due to complications related to diabetes, as diagnosed by attending medical professionals.

Dauda, who also serves as the Amirul Hajj, expressed deep sorrow over the loss. He noted that once he was informed of her deteriorating condition, he immediately instructed the medical team to provide her with urgent care, following the directives of Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

Her funeral prayers were held at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, with several officials and family members in attendance. She was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

“With a heavy heart and in full submission to the will of Allah, Plateau State mourns the loss of one of its female pilgrims, Hajiya Jamila Muhammad, who passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at King Abdul’aziz Hospital in Makkah due to diabetic complications,” the statement read.

Quoting the Quran, the statement added: “And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him, his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah” (Quran 4:100).

Dauda extended his heartfelt condolences to the Government of Plateau State, as well as to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased. He offered prayers for her forgiveness and eternal rest.

“May Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaws,” he prayed.
