A newly surfaced video shows several bodies floating on Lake Chad following a fierce battle between Boko Haram and ISWAP militants. The disturbing footage captures the aftermath of the deadly encounter that took place a few days earlier.
During the clash, heavy gunfire echoed across the lake as fighters in boats exchanged shots, shouting “Allahu Akbar” amid the chaos.
Earlier in the week, an initial clip from the confrontation had circulated online, prompting mixed reactions among Nairaland users some questioned whether the fighters were actually engaging in combat, joking that they might be “shooting at fish,” while others demanded proof of casualties. This new footage now provides grim confirmation, revealing multiple corpses drifting on the water.
Reports indicate that the Boko Haram faction known as Jama’tu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) gained the upper hand, overrunning ISWAP strongholds and seizing weapons and equipment, with minimal losses on their side. The violent rivalry between the two jihadist groups, which began after their split in 2016, continues to rage over ideological disputes and the battle for dominance in the Lake Chad region.
