Amotekun Nabs Suspect Behind APC Chairman’s Murder

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has made a major breakthrough in the investigation into the killing of Nelson Adepoyigi, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ward 5, in Ose Local Government Area.

Commander of the Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, announced the arrest of the prime suspect on Monday during a press briefing in Akure, where over 30 suspects involved in various crimes across the state were paraded.

“We have apprehended one of the prime suspects who masterminded the killing of the APC ward chairman in Ose LGA,” Adeleye said. “He led us into the bush where we recovered some incriminating items from him.”

Adepoyigi was kidnapped last month along the Ifon-Owo Road on his way back from his farm. His lifeless body was later discovered, triggering outrage from both the local community and political stakeholders across the state.

The arrest represents a crucial development in the ongoing investigation and underscores the state’s intensified efforts to tackle rising violent crimes, particularly in rural areas.

Amotekun’s role in maintaining security in the Southwest continues to gain recognition, especially with its focus on intelligence-led operations and collaboration with local vigilante groups.

More details on the case are expected as investigations progress.
