Ogun Government Shuts Down Six Industries Over Environmental Violations

The Ogun State Government has sealed six companies for breaching environmental regulations across various locations in the state.

The affected industries are Winwin Electrical Limited, Isichei Farms Limited, Chafengei Nigeria Limited, Fortune Height Farms Limited, Loly B and DA Ventures Limited, and Adventus Nigeria Limited.

This action was confirmed in a statement posted on Saturday by the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) via X (formerly Twitter). The agency reaffirmed its dedication to enforcing environmental laws and safeguarding the state’s ecosystem.

According to Farouk Tunde, Special Adviser to the Governor on OGEPA and Chairman of the State Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, the companies were sanctioned for various offenses, including air pollution, unauthorized discharge of waste, and defiance of previous government orders.

“Winwin Electrical Limited, Isichei Farms Limited, and Chafengei Nigeria Limited, located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, were shut down for air pollution,” the statement noted.

Fortune Height Farms Limited, in Odogbolu Local Government Area, was resealed after illegally resuming operations despite an earlier shutdown for discharging untreated effluent into the environment.

Loly B and DA Ventures Limited, a grain cleaning company in Ijebu-Ode, was sealed for flouting a stop-work order.

Adventus Nigeria Limited, operating a tube processing facility along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, was penalized for exposing workers to hazardous conditions and failing to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Isichei Farms Limited was also cited again for violating a stop-work directive.
