Just in: Kano Youths Rejects NDC, Burn Obi-Kwankwaso Posters

Kindly share this story

A short video circulating on social media shows a group of men in what appears to be northern Nigeria publicly burning a large campaign-style poster of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso during what observers described as a politically charged street protest.

The shaky handheld footage, lasting approximately 14 seconds, captures several men holding up the poster before lowering it into flames on the ground. Smoke rises from the burning material as bystanders watch from the background. Voices in the clip repeatedly chant “Bamayi! Bamayi!” — a Hausa expression commonly interpreted in political contexts as “We don’t want him,” “We reject him,” or “We are not with you.”

The video, shared online by the account “@Iyoaiye_,” also contains verbal criticism directed at both Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speakers in the clip accuse Kwankwaso of aligning politically with Tinubu, while describing Tinubu as a “one-term president” and a “regional president,” suggesting dissatisfaction with his support base in parts of northern Nigeria.

In the recording, the speakers further claim that both political figures deserve similar treatment, calling for their campaign posters to be torn down, stoned, and burned “one by one” across northern Nigeria. The remarks reflect rising political tensions and strong emotions among some grassroots supporters ahead of ongoing political realignments in the country.

As of the time of reporting, the exact location of the incident and the identities of those involved have not been independently verified. There has also been no official response yet from representatives of either Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso or Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the video.
