BREAKING: INEC Withdraws Recognition of David Mark-Led ADC Faction

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will no longer recognise or communicate with any faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), including the group led by former Senate President David Mark.
This decision follows the commission’s review of a Court of Appeal ruling delivered on March 12, 2026.
In a statement issued by Mohammed Kudu, Chairman of Information and Voter Education, INEC stated that it will suspend all official interactions with both the David Mark-led faction and the rival group led by Rafiu Bala. The commission also clarified that it will not observe or monitor any party activities such as meetings, congresses, or conventions organised by either faction until the ongoing legal dispute is resolved at the Federal High Court.
Additionally, INEC disclosed that it will remove David Mark’s name from its official portal in relation to the party’s leadership.
The leadership crisis within the ADC intensified after Rafiu Bala, who previously served as the party’s vice chairman, challenged the legitimacy of the caretaker committee led by David Mark in court.
The matter remains unresolved and is currently awaiting a final determination by the Federal High Court.
