Carpenter Electrocuted While Roofing a Building in Anambra

Tragedy struck in Anambra, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, where an unidentified carpenter was tragically electrocuted at a construction site.

The incident occurred on Friday, April 4, 2025, as the carpenter was working on the roof of a new building situated near a high-tension power line.

A video circulating on social media captures the grim moment when the deceased’s body was lowered from the roof by local residents.

According to accompanying voice notes, the accident happened while the victim was handling roofing materials.

It was reported that one of the zinc sheets he was carrying inadvertently came into contact with a high-tension wire, resulting in his immediate electrocution.

Witnesses described the scene, stating, “The incident happened in the afternoon as the man was arranging the roofing sheets, and when one of them touched the high-tension wire, he was instantly electrocuted.”

They further noted that his body remained precariously positioned on the roof for several minutes before being retrieved by onlookers.
