NLC Calls For Increase in Retirement Age

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has urged federal government to increase retirement age for all civil servants.

NLC President,Joe Ajaero stated this on Thursday, during the Workers Day celebration at Eagle Square in Abuja.

He said that the current retirement policy 65 years of age or 40 years of service which is already in place for teachers, health workers, and judges, should be extended to cover all public servants.

He reaffirmed that this change is necessary and noted that the NLC has previously committed to discussing the issue with President Bola Tinubu.

The current policy for teachers was put into law under former President Muhammadu Buhari.
