No fewer than 5,600 members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) across three local government areas in Bauchi State. The mass defection, which took place over the weekend, was confirmed by party officials who described it as a major political shift ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
Sources within the ADC said the new members were formally received at a gathering attended by party stakeholders and local leaders. The defectors reportedly cited internal disagreements and strategic realignments as reasons for leaving the NNPP, pledging loyalty to the ADC’s structure and leadership in the state.
Political observers note that the development could reshape grassroots mobilization in the affected LGAs, as both parties continue efforts to strengthen their presence across Bauchi State.
